W hile the story of a dog being hit by a vehicle and left for dead is not unique, Azhagan certainly is! A real socialite who loves the company of humans, he loves the company of his best canine friend Nora, even more, and the two are inseparable. Often found together, the pair make an adorable duo, and we’re thankful that they have such a strong bond, and can help each other forget their traumatic pasts while enjoying their peaceful lives at the sanctuary.
Most of our tripawd dogs would make fantastic pets, and Azhagan is no exception. Requiring no special treatment other than a nutritious diet, he would make a welcome addition to any loving family.
As age was catching up, Azhagan slowed down but remained active. Towards the end of 2024, he suffered from swelling in his limbs and his blood test returned with elevated renal values. We maintained him comfortable with fluid therapy and renal supplements for some time. On the 5th of January 2025, Azhagan looked quite dull with no appetite and passed away on his terms. We are grateful to have given him several happy years at the Sanctuary. An endearing soul, Azhagan's memories will remain evergreen.
